Speaker of the Fijian Parliament the Hon. Filimone Jitoko, on behalf of the Pacific Islands Parliaments Group (PIPG) Conference, expresses heartfelt sympathy and solidarity with the Government and people of the Republic of Marshall Islands following the fire that completely destroyed the Parliament building in Majuro.
“We are deeply relieved that no lives were lost in this tragic event,” said Hon. Jitoko.
“Whilst the flames may have consumed the physical structure, they have not touched the enduring spirit of the Marshallese people. On behalf of the Pacific Parliaments, we offer our deepest condolences and unwavering support.”
Hon. Jitoko emphasised the importance of resilience and unity across the Pacific.
“We stand with our brothers and sisters in the Marshall Islands. We are confident that a new Parliament will rise from the ashes — a symbol of strength, renewal, and the shared values that bind our Pacific nations together.”
The members of the PIPG reaffirm their commitment to supporting the Marshall Islands during this time and look forward to the emergence of a new parliamentary institution that will continue to serve its people with pride and purpose.
