Speaker urges Fiji 7s Team to work together
The Speaker Hon. Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu was the chief guest at the jersey presentation for our 7s players ahead of the Dubai 7s, which kicks off this weekend.
He took some time to encourage the players and also thanked the management team for their commitment thus far.
“The victory is yours but you need to work together. There are 7 of you on the field and a few on the bench. I urge you not to play individually but play as a team.”
“Fijians all over the world are watching and cheering for you. Sometimes when you’re unfit, you tend to throw punches and play the typical Fijian ‘up and under’ style of rugby.”
“You excel when you don’t think about yourself but think of the support around you because at the end of the day, everybody counts.”
The Hon. Speaker thanked coach Ben Gollings and the management team for devoting their time and energy in upskilling the boys and wished them all the best for this weekend.
Hon. Ratu Naiqama is leading a Parliament delegation in Dubai for the COP28UAE.
The arrangement for the jersey presentation came through Fiji’s Ambassador in Abu Dhabi, H.E Naipote Katonitabua.
