Speaker attends PIPG Working Group Meeting in Tahiti

The Speaker of the Fijian Parliament the Hon. Filimone Jitoko has embarked on his first overseas parliamentary engagement, which is the Working Group Meeting of the Pacific Islands Parliamentary Group (PIPG) in Papeete, Tahiti from Monday 3rd to Thursday 6th February, 2025.
The five-member Parliaments Working Group was established during the 4th PIPG Conference that was held in August last year in Koror, Palau. The Working Group comprises the Parliaments of French Polynesia, Tonga, Palau, Solomon Islands and Fiji.
The Working Group is mandated to analyse the options proposed by the PIPG Permanent Secretariat for the formal restructuring of the PIPG, and which must be tabled back for endorsement, with the full membership of the PIPG at the next Conference which will be held in Fiji from the 25th to the 29th of August, 2025.
The Hon. Speaker is being accompanied by the Leader of the Opposition the Hon. Inia Seruiratu, the Secretary-General to Parliament Mrs Jeanette Emberson and the Manager Inter-Parliamentary Relations and Protocol Mr Senitieli Wainiu.
