The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association’s (CPA) Executive Meeting is currently having its second biannual meeting for 2021. The meeting is being held virtually from 28 – 30 September 2021.
The Honourable Speaker, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau is one of the three representatives of the Pacific branch of the CPA on the Executive Committee.
The Committee amongst other business discussed reports from the Secretary-General of the CPA,its Coordinating Committee, the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (CWP) and CPA Small Branches groups.
The Executive Committee is being attended by Commonwealth Parliamentarians representing nine regions of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association – Africa; Asia; Australia; British Islands & Mediterranean; Canada; Caribbean, Americas & Atlantic; India; Pacific; and South-East Asia.
The Executive Committee is the governing body of the CPA and meets twice a year to discuss and make decisions on Association business.
The CPA is one of the oldest established organisations in the Commonwealth, founded in 1911 with a membership of 185 parliaments and legislatures from the Commonwealth that covers over 17,000 members of parliament, speakers, and secretariats.
