Advisory – Special Parliament Sitting

Speaker Hon. Dr Jiko Luveni has advised that a special Parliament sitting will be held on Friday, 31 August 2018 at 9.30am, to appoint the President of the Republic of Fiji.

Pursuant to section 85(1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Fiji, ‘The President holds office for 3 years, and is eligible for re-appointment for one further term of 3 years, but is not eligible for re-appointment after that.’

His Excellency Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konusi Konrote was appointed by Parliament on 12 October 2015.
